Cookies on myBeat.io

myBeat.io uses as few cookies as it can. We use them to keep you signed in, to take payments safely and to run the support chat. We only measure how the site is used if you say yes. We don't use advertising cookies, and we never track you across other sites.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember something between pages or visits, like the fact that you are signed in. Browsers can also store information in similar ways, such as local storage. On this page, “cookies” covers all of these.

Who is responsible

The cookies on mybeat.io are placed by myBeat.io V.O.F., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under 93920393. Questions go to [email protected].

The cookies we use

Needed to run myBeat.io (always on)

These make the site work. Without them you can't sign in, stay signed in or pay. Because they are needed for things you ask for, we don't ask your permission for them.

  • Signing in. You sign in with a code we email you, with no password. A cookie keeps you signed in after you enter that code, and is removed when you sign out.
  • Security. When you sign in, send music or export a video, a cookie stores an identifier of your device, so we can protect your account and stop misuse, like a ban being dodged.
  • Your cookie choice. A cookie remembers what you chose, so we don't ask again on every page.
  • Payments and payouts. When you pay for a send or for Resident, or connect Stripe to receive payouts, you do that on the pages of our payment provider Stripe. Stripe places cookies there to process the payment safely and to detect fraud. Stripe's cookies are only placed on those payment and payout pages, never on mybeat.io itself.

Support chat (only when you open it)

Our help chat runs on Intercom. It only loads when you open the chat. Its cookies link you to your conversations, so you can see earlier messages, and they recognise your device to stop abuse of the chat. When you sign out, we end the chat session.

Analytics (only with your permission)

With your permission, we measure how the site is used: which pages people visit, and where they get stuck. We use this only to improve myBeat.io. We don't build profiles of you, we don't combine it with data from other sites, and we don't sell it. Analytics is off until you switch it on, and every page works without it.

We use PostHog, hosted in the EU. After you accept, it stores a random identifier for your browser in a cookie and in local storage, so a visit is counted once, and records which pages you view and what you click. Without your permission it stores nothing on your device and only receives a report when a page breaks, so we can fix it.

What we don't use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media pixels.
  • No tracking across other websites.
  • No selling or renting of your data.
